Reading Alongside Isaiah
I don't quote from it, but I lean on it often. When a passage is knotted — like the run from Ahaz through Hezekiah in Isaiah 7 and 8 — this is where I go to understand the history and the shape of what I'm reading.
- The Prophecy of Isaiah, by J. Alec Motyer — a one-volume commentary. Detailed, but written so you don't need Hebrew to follow it.
