Wandering Through God's Word with Wonder

A blue and purple monarch chrysalis hanging from a tree branch against a sky background

But, why buttonofsilk.org?

Years ago, God laid the desire on my heart to share about Him. At the time, blogs were the main way to do that. I really wanted a butterfly-themed blog, but all of the "typical" names were already taken.

So I started to research and pray over the name.

Somewhere in that process, I came across the idea of a button of silk—the tiny bit of silk a monarch caterpillar uses to anchor itself before forming its chrysalis.

And that image stuck with me.

This tiny little button holds it in place while this amazing internal transformation is happening; what emerges looks almost nothing like what went in.

And I remember thinking...we need that too.

We need to be anchored in Christ. Abiding in Him. Rooted in Him. Because real transformation doesn't come from us trying harder to become something different. It comes from staying attached to Him and allowing Him to do the transforming.

Little did I know that God had really only given me the seed of an idea at the time—and that He would spend the better part of the next twenty years transforming me, preparing me for what He would eventually ask me to do.

Curious who that transformation shaped me into? Learn about your guide.
